Introduction of the 3rd Francophile Committee
Dear Fellow Francophiles,
On behalf of the 3rd committee of the NUS Francophile, I would firstly like to thank our seniors, the founding members of our club, as well as our ever-supportive professors for their dedication that has brought our club thus far.
The Francophile committee is committed to promoting the French culture and language on campus. I am proud to present our newly elected committee of 8 members.
As the President, I oversee the going ons of the whole club and liases with our professors and seniors. I lead our closed knitted committee in work together in organisation of our club and activities.
Then, there’s Laura, our cheery Vice-President who’s a great partner to me on top of working closely with the committee in planning and execution of our activities.
Noel’s our Presidential advisor and PR guy who does all the diplomatic stuff like connecting us with external liaisons and gives the President and Vice-President advisory support.
Charmaine’s our ever-efficient secretary who types wonderful minutes and takes care of all our paperwork and administrations, including drawing up headache-inducing schedules.
We also have Jessica, our wonderful treasurer whom the committee depend on dearly for $$$ and handling of our finances and fundraisers.
Elaine’s our friendly French connection who gets to be in close touch with all the French students that come to NUS.
Also, Eric is the IT Director, who handles all the mind-boggling IT-related issues, including our sites so we can be in close touch with everyone. And not forgetting, the sound system, forums, electronic materials and the list goes on.
Last but not least, Jonathan is our Senior Advisor, who bestows the new committee with his experiences and advices. Sometimes he is struck by a brainwave and comes up with events like International Food Exchange, which is his brainchild.
Together, we are a fun-loving and dedicated bunch that strives to bring NUS Francophile to greater heights. We look forward to bringing you more fulfilling activities and programs this semester and seeing you at Francophile events!
Cordialement,
Wendy Lim

Seniors' Testimonials
Experience as outgoing committee
Bonjour à tous,
Francophile has been something very close to my heart, and it still is, partly because we helped started it in the first place, but mainly because of the invaluable friendships formed and experiences gained [all the pleasant and not-so-pleasant ones, but mostly pleasant ;)] during our stint. Language learning has never been easy, but having both native speakers and fellow enthusiasts as companions throughout the whole process certainly helped my learning and appreciation of the language and culture. It was not just simply about learning the language ; but actually using it and integrating it into your life, developing an understanding of Francophone worldviews, making it [almost] one of the languages you can think in. In fact, I think I already sound like a Francophone.
There were certainly exasperating moments, apprehensive moments, or even nervous ones when trying to establish the interest group, but all these formed only part of the natural process of trying to get something started, as well as learning experiences for myself as an individual. As a soon-to-be alumni of the school, I am really pleased and heartened that we have found fellow enthusiasts who can continue to bring Francophile on to greater heights, to do things which we didn’t manage to do, and to create and share the joy of appreciating both the French language and culture with anyone else who is interested. Being involved in Francophile has certainly changed my student life at NUS in enriching and exciting ways; I am sure if you stick with the club you will find that out for yourself too!
